Caliendo beats Burroughs at RAF 14, Lovett takes belt

Two accounts posted different scores for the Caliendo win, 7-5 and 7-3, but both had the same result.

Mikey Caliendo beat Jordan Burroughs at RAF 14. Justin Basch posted the score as 7-5, while GlobalWrestOrder posted it as 7-3. Either way, Burroughs, a seven-time world and Olympic champion, took the loss.

GlobalWrestOrder called it a huge upset and said Caliendo wrestled the perfect match for the biggest win of his career by far. Nobody on the card beat a bigger name than that.

Lovett wins the vacant lightweight belt

On the same card, NCAA champ Ridge Lovett teched Jordan Oliver 13-2 to win the vacant RAF Lightweight Championship, per Basch. That one is covered in full earlier.

Two results, one night, and both of them went to the younger man. Caliendo is now the guy who has Burroughs on his resume, and Lovett has a belt to defend.

What is not settled

The final score of the Caliendo match is the one loose end. Basch had it 7-5, GlobalWrestOrder had it 7-3, and nobody has reconciled the two. The margin does not change the result, but it does change how close it reads.

Neither account said anything about what comes next for Burroughs, and no RAF announcement on a Caliendo follow-up has surfaced.

What to watch

- Whether RAF lines up a lightweight title defense for Lovett. - Whether Burroughs takes another RAF match after the loss.
