Mikey Caliendo beats Jordan Burroughs at RAF 14
Two accounts posted two different scores, and both had Caliendo's hand raised.
Mikey Caliendo beat Jordan Burroughs at RAF 14. Justin Basch posted the result as a 7-5 win for Caliendo, while GlobalWrestOrder scored the same match 7-3. Either way, the seven-time world and Olympic champion lost on the Real American Freestyle card that aired on Fox Nation.
GlobalWrestOrder called it a huge upset and said Caliendo "wrestled the perfect match, and gets the biggest win of his career by far." Real American Freestyle's own account kept it short, posting "CALIENDO GETS IT DONE" alongside the Fox Nation watch link. Basch led his post with a stunned face emoji, which is about the reaction the result deserves.
What the sources do and do not say
Nobody has posted a full sequence of the scoring, and the two score reports do not match. We are listing both rather than picking one. There is also no weight listed in any of the three posts, and no word from Burroughs or Caliendo themselves.
That is the whole confirmed picture right now. One result, two scores, one very large name on the losing end.
Why it lands
Burroughs is the most decorated American freestyle wrestler of his generation, and GlobalWrestOrder described him flatly as the American wrestling GOAT in its post on the loss. A win over him is the kind of line that follows a wrestler around for the rest of his career, which is exactly how GlobalWrestOrder framed it for Caliendo.
RAF 14 opened the eleven straight days of wrestling that run through Super 32 and the Senior World Championships, and the card had already lost Nick Suriano and Greg Kerkvliet in the lead-up. Caliendo over Burroughs is the result people will remember from it.
Worth watching is whether RAF or either wrestler posts an official score to settle the 7-5 versus 7-3 split, and whether Burroughs says anything about what comes next.
Caliendo wrestled the perfect match, and gets the biggest win of his career by far.
Mikey Caliendo gets the 7-5 win over Burroughs.
