Penn State fighting Ono eligibility case in court, per Mineo
Penn State has challenged Ono's eligibility in court and the matter is unresolved, per Pat Mineo. Mineo reports Ono cannot compete until it is settled, and that his eligibility clock is not running in the meantime, which could function as a free redshirt year.
A legal challenge intended to secure additional eligibility could also be giving Ono an extra year of development without using a season.
Why it matters: A ruling decides whether Penn State gets one more year of a lineup piece or three.
