Iowa hosts six women's recruits, including ISU commit Von Gonten

Iowa women's wrestling had six recruits on campus over the weekend, and Ross Bartachek posted the photo to prove it. He listed them as Eve Skrocki, Landri Von Gonten, Larra Mullin, Taina Fernandez, Brooke Huffman and Ryleigh Sturgill. That is one weekend, one room, and one of the visitors is already committed somewhere else.
That would be Von Gonten. The Texas native and U17 World silver medalist committed to Iowa State a week before the trip and took the official to Iowa City anyway, as Bartachek reported earlier. She is ranked No. 3 in the pound for pound rankings, which makes her the highest profile name in the picture and the one whose recruitment is, on paper, over.

Familiar faces in the room
Skrocki is not new to the building. The former Dubuque Wahlert standout attended RTC practices in the Iowa room this summer and, per Bartachek, was ready to get the full feel of the program. She is a Fargo champ and a U17 World Team member.
Sturgill, one of the nation's top lightweight recruits, told IAwrestle the history, the coaching staff, fan support and program success drew her in. She grew up going to the elite camps and the girls camps in Iowa City.

Fernandez, the three-time U17 champ, was also in town, as previously reported. Bartachek did not post details on Mullin or Huffman beyond their names in the photo.
Nobody has announced a commitment out of the weekend. For a program Sturgill described as successful from day one, getting a top three pound for pound recruit to visit after she pledged elsewhere is the headline, and Iowa State fans will want to know whether that pledge holds.
What to watch. Whether Von Gonten's Iowa State commitment survives the visit, and whether any of the six announce in the coming weeks.
