Virginia Tech, Cornell each land two Super 32 champions

Justin Basch's commitment breakdown of the ten Super 32 champions puts two in Blacksburg and two in Ithaca.

Virginia Tech and Cornell each signed off on two Super 32 champions this weekend, according to the champions and commitments list posted by @justinjbasch. Melvin Miller at 165 and Maximus Konopka at 215 are both Hokie commits. Arseni Kikiniou at 150 and Lucas Boe at 175 are both headed to Cornell.

Miller's title was his third at Super 32. The McCort senior defended his 165 belt with a 7-3 win over No. 2 Matthew Staples, a two-time undefeated Indiana state champ, as covered earlier. He also won 144 back in 2023, and Basch notes that total does not count the middle school Super 32 title Miller won at 80 pounds years ago.

The run to the final was not close. Miller stacked six straight bonus-point wins before the title match, including a pin in 48 seconds, two majors and three tech falls. Basch called him the "#1 Big Boarder for a reason" and pointed to his Who's No. 1 win last month.

Where the rest of the champs are going

The other eight brackets spread out across the country. Caleb Noble at 113 is an Arizona State commit. Cameron Sontz at 120 is going to Lehigh. Israel Borge at 132 picked Iowa, Dean Anderson at 138 is a Northern Iowa commit, Mac Crosson at 157 is headed to Nebraska, and Tanner Hodgins at 190 is an Oklahoma State commit.

Four champions are not committed, all underclassmen. Nelson Villafane won 106 as a member of the class of 2030. Matthew O'Neill at 144, Mateo Gallegos at 126 and Satoshi Davis at 285 are all 2028 grads.

For a tournament that doubles as the sport's best preview of future NCAA brackets, the headline is that no single program ran away with it. Virginia Tech and Cornell were the only schools to put two names on the champions board.

What to watch: whether any of the four uncommitted champs, three of them in the class of 2028, start drawing offers off these results.
