Christian Pyles says Marcus Blaze could move up to 141 for the college season and put himself in position to make the 65kg world team next April. The problem, as Pyles laid it out, is the calendar. Blaze would have to hold 61kg, about 134 pounds, until Worlds end in November, then add the size needed for a full NCAA run at 141.
That is why Pyles still lands where he started. He wrote that the double duty "seems like a tough obstacle and why I still think Marcus winds up at 133."
The pushback
Brax Bandito was not buying the size concern. He pointed to Blaze's own comments on State Media about eating a half bowl of ice cream a day and never more than a sandwich per day, then argued the body is asking to grow into the next weight. His evidence was on the mat, not the scale. Blaze already made the jump to 65kg last year and beat Bassett 5-1 doing it.
Pyles gave ground. Asked whether Blaze could handle it, he answered that yes he can, and added that he is torn on which weight he would rather watch because both have plenty of storylines if Blaze is in the mix.
