Welker reaches third straight U23 World final at 76kg
The Iowa star went tech, pin, tech to reach Saturday night's gold medal bout in Las Vegas.
Kylie Welker is in the 76kg final at the U23 World Championships for the third straight year, winning her semifinal by 11-0 tech fall in Las Vegas.
Justin Basch laid out the run that got her there, a tech, then a pin, then another tech. USA Wrestling said Welker "continued her bonus run in the semifinals" and is headed back to the U23 World finals for a third consecutive year. The Iowa Women's Wrestling Club posted the 11-0 result and noted she is going for a third straight World gold.
The opponent is set. The Wrestling Nomad reported Welker will face Evelin Ujhelji of Serbia in the gold medal bout, and Basch said the final goes at 9 pm ET.

A win makes it three U23 World titles in a row for Welker, at the same event where the United States has been chasing medals all week. She has not been taken past the scoreboard limit at this tournament, with every win in the bracket coming by bonus.
