Blades reportedly takes Final X spot, Mir match off
Only two matches are left on Friday's card, per Justin Basch, and nobody has said why the third came off.
The Kennedy Blades vs Isabella Mir Final X match is not happening Friday, according to Justin Basch, who posted that "the word on the street" is the bout has come off the card. Basch says Blades takes the win and the senior-level spot, while Mir takes the spot on the U23 team. That leaves Bassett vs Woods and Welker vs Guilford as the only matches left.
Nobody has said why the match was pulled. Basch framed it as word going around rather than an announcement, so treat it as unconfirmed until USA Wrestling says otherwise.
What it changes
The series was earlier set as a best-of-three at Final X, and Blades had already appeared on the UWW U23 Worlds entry list pending the outcome. If Basch has it right, the split is clean. Blades goes senior, Mir goes U23, and neither wrestles for it on the mat Friday.
The other women's match still on the card, Welker vs Guilford, was also scheduled as a best-of-three. Add Bassett vs Woods and Friday becomes a two-match night instead of three.
Things to watch. Whether USA Wrestling confirms the change and the reason for it, and whether Blades is formally slotted onto the senior team before Friday.
