Iowa women host No. 1 ranked Jaclyn Bouzakis on visit
Five recruits were on campus, including three ranked inside the top five at their weights.
Iowa's women's wrestling program hosted five recruits on its recruiting weekend, headlined by Jaclyn Bouzakis of Pennsylvania, the No. 1 ranked wrestler at 105. Ross Bartachek posted the visit list, which also included Cameron Leng of Ohio, No. 11 at 125, Julia Araujo of North Dakota, No. 5 at 155, Ciyanna Okicha of Pennsylvania, No. 4 at 170, and Fargo All-American Kimura Hutter of Wisconsin. Three of the five are ranked inside the top five at their weight, which is the kind of group a program at the top of the sport needs to keep stacking.
Who was on campus
Bouzakis is the name that jumps off the list. A No. 1 ranked recruit at 105 is the ceiling of the class at that weight, and Iowa got her on campus alongside Okicha, the No. 4 at 170, and Araujo, the No. 5 at 155. That is a spread across the lineup rather than a pile up at one weight, from the lightest class all the way to 170.
Leng rounds out the ranked group at No. 11 at 125. Hutter does not carry a ranking in Bartachek's post but comes with a Fargo All-American finish, which is its own currency in women's recruiting.
Why it matters
None of the five have announced anything. A visit is a visit, and nobody has said when decisions are coming. But getting the No. 1 recruit at 105 into the building is the part of the weekend that will matter if it converts, and Iowa has already been active in that weight range, having landed No. 5 ranked 105 pounder Ryleigh Sturgill earlier this month.
What to watch: whether any of the five commit, and whether Bouzakis and Sturgill end up in the same room at 105.
