Eve Skrocki commits to Iowa women's wrestling
The class of 2027 prospect announced Sunday, one week after her official visit.
Eve Skrocki is headed to Iowa. The former Dubuque Wahlert standout announced Sunday on social media that she has committed to the Hawkeye women's program, one week after taking her official visit to Iowa City, per The Open Mat. The Open Mat calls her one of the nation's top prospects in the class of 2027.
Skrocki represented the United States at the 2026 U17 World Championships. Ross Bartachek, who also reported the news, described her as a "Former Dubuque Wahlert standout and World Team member."

An in-state World Team member stays home
The in-state piece is the part that lands. Iowa has built the country's most visible women's college program in a state where the high school girls side has exploded, and keeping a Wahlert wrestler who has already worn a USA singlet at an age-group World Championships is exactly the kind of recruiting win that keeps that pipeline pointed at Iowa City rather than out of state.
Neither Bartachek nor The Open Mat listed a weight class for Skrocki, and neither reported her U17 Worlds result or which other schools she considered. Nobody has said what else was on her visit list.
She is a 2027 prospect, so she is still two full high school seasons away from stepping into the Iowa room. That also means she is a long way from being done adding to the resume. U17 was 2026. The junior-level age groups sit in front of her before she ever wrestles a college match.
It is the second piece of Iowa women's recruiting news in recent weeks. Top lightweight recruit Ryleigh Sturgill took her official visit to the program in September, as covered earlier.
Our take: a World Team member committing 20 months out is Iowa treating women's recruiting the way the men's side treats it, locking down the best in-state talent before anyone else gets a real swing at her.
