Wieser replaces injured Elor at 72kg for Senior Worlds

Olympic champion Amit Elor and No. 2 Alexandra Glaude are both out, pushing the third-ranked American into the Astana lineup.

Precious Wieser will wrestle 72kg for Team USA in women's freestyle at the 2026 Senior World Championships in Astana, replacing Amit Elor, USA Wrestling announced.

@justinjbasch reported that Elor, the Olympic champion and two-time World champion, is out with an injury and health issues, as is No. 2 ranked Alexandra Glaude. That moves the No. 3 ranked American, Wieser, into the spot.

Wieser has had a strong 2026, with Pan American gold, Poland Open silver, and finals runs at both the U.S. Open and the World Team Trials Challenge, according to Basch. USA Wrestling's own announcement led with her Pan American title.

Glaude being out as well is what explains the jump straight to the No. 3 American. Neither USA Wrestling nor Basch has said anything about the nature of Elor's injury or a timeline for her return.
