Oklahoma State Invite wrestle-offs will not be livestreamed
Justin Basch says the event that allegedly sorts out the Cowboy lineup is an in-person ticket only.
The Oklahoma State Invite will not be livestreamed, per Justin Basch, who says the event will allegedly serve as de facto wrestle-offs for Oklahoma State. That is the full news out of Stillwater so far. No one has said why the stream is off.
The detail that makes it sting is what the event is supposed to be. If the Invite really is where the Cowboys sort out their starters, then the only way to see which Oklahoma State wrestlers win their spots is to be in the building. Basch did not frame it as a scandal.
"It's not necessarily a bad move if you wanna force the hand of Oklahoma State fans to get there in person," Basch wrote, adding he would discuss it more on Monday's show.

Not the first time
The Wrestling Nomad replied that Oklahoma State had done the same thing before, for a Cowboy RTC event, and said he believed it was under the same reasoning. His read on the thinking behind it was blunt. The Wrestling Nomad called it something "for fans and donors, not the general public," which puts the decision in the category of a gate and ticket play rather than a one off scheduling quirk.
That is the whole of what the two accounts have said. There is no statement from the program, no explanation of the streaming rights involved, and no confirmation beyond Basch's word that the Invite functions as wrestle-offs.
Why it matters
Wrestle-offs are the one event where a fan gets a clean look at a lineup question before the duals start, and Oklahoma State's will be invisible to anybody who is not in Stillwater. For a program whose starting spots get argued over all preseason, that is a real information blackout for the people arguing.
What to watch for. Basch said he will have more on Monday's show. And whether Oklahoma State or anyone connected to the program explains the call, or whether results simply filter out from the arena.
