Who's #1 creator rips Flo, says the event lost its soul
MatScoutWillie says Flo had the event on a silver platter, while Justin Basch and Flo keep adding matches to the Sept. 26 card.
MatScoutWillie, who says he created Who's Number One, went after FloWrestling's handling of the event on X, calling the current state of it disheartening. In a follow-up he wrote that Flo "had it on my silver platter and fucked it up," said it is his most passionate thing, then added "let me see what i can do" and tagged @IzzyStyle and @ChadBronstein. He did not say what he is planning.
That is the whole of it so far. No timeline, no format, no event, just the two posts and the two tags. Nobody has said what, if anything, comes next.
Flo keeps stacking the card
While that was going on, the promotion of the show did not slow down. Justin Basch announced another No. 1 versus No. 2 for Who's #1, with 2026 Cadet World Teamer and top-ranked Kooper Deputy against Fargo champ and No. 2 Luke Loren at 106. Flo framed it the same way, calling the top spot at 106 up for grabs between the U17 World teamer and the Fargo champ. The event runs 9/26 on Flo. Flo also posted a list of the seven wrestlers with the most Who's Number One wins.
Basch clarifies the three-loss question
Basch spent part of the same stretch defending his earlier question about whether a wrestler who went through three losses last weekend belongs on a card built around No. 1 versus No. 2 matchups. Replying to @kneedog55, he said the criticism of him lacked context and that he was asking whether a guy who took three losses should compete at an event set up to determine the No. 1 guy in the weight class.
Basch also drew the line clearly on what he was not saying. He wrote that he does not think the wrestler should be disinvited, but that the match "clearly has nothing to do with 'Who's #1' at the weight" and was simply a discussion point.
Our take. Two separate arguments landed on the same event in the same 48 hours, one about who gets invited and one about who owns the idea, and the card kept getting better while both played out.
What to watch. Whether MatScoutWillie follows through on "let me see what i can do," and whether @IzzyStyle or @ChadBronstein respond publicly. Deputy versus Loren at 106 goes 9/26 on Flo.
Both the soul and the hype of Who's #1 has been lost. As the creator of it, it's disheartening.
