Aman beats World champ Han 11-7 for Asian Games 57kg gold
The Olympic bronze medalist handed North Korea's reigning World champion his first loss of the tournament.
India's Aman won the Asian Games freestyle title at 57kg, beating reigning World champion Chongsong Han of North Korea 11-7. GlobalWrestOrder, who called it a "CRAZY MATCH", noted Han had looked dominant all tournament up to the final. Aman is an Olympic bronze medalist, and this is the signature senior scalp of his career.
United World Wrestling confirmed the result and the rest of the medal bouts. Aiaal Belolyubskii beat Japan's Yamato Ogawa 1-1 for one bronze, and China's Wanhao Zou beat Kyrgyzstan's Bekzat Almaz Uulu 9-6 for the other.
57kg stays wide open
Eleven points on a reigning World champion is the headline, and GlobalWrestOrder framed the result as confirmation that nobody owns the weight heading into the next World tournament. Han came in with the gold medal and the form, and still gave up double digits in the final.
It is the second Indian freestyle gold of these Games after Sujeet's comeback at 65kg, which you can read about earlier.
What to watch
Whether Han and Aman cross paths again at the 2026 World Championships, where 57kg is the one weight nobody is willing to call.
As always with 57kg, it’s completely open at the world tournament in 2026.
Aman wins the Asian Games title - with an 11-7 win over Han, who had looked dominant all tournament.
