All-Star Classic headed to Rec Hall with no Oklahoma State wrestlers
Basch also expects Virginia Tech's lineup from 125 through 149 to be on the card.
The All-Star Classic is headed to Penn State's Rec Hall on the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, and no Oklahoma State wrestlers will be there, per Justin Basch. Basch also says he expects Virginia Tech's hammers from 125 through 149 to be on the card. He frames all of it as things he is hearing, and says official news should be coming soon.
That is the whole report. Basch did not give a reason for Oklahoma State's absence, and nobody else has said why, so treat the Cowboys' omission as reported and unexplained rather than as a statement from the program.
What is actually confirmed
Nothing yet, officially. Basch listed the venue, the date window, the Virginia Tech block and the Oklahoma State absence as nuggets, with the caveat that the announcement has not landed. Until it does, this is one reporter's information, not a released card.
The Virginia Tech piece is the part that tells you what the event could look like. Four straight weights from the same team, 125 through 149, is a large share of a ten match exhibition card, and Blacksburg's lightweights going into a Rec Hall crowd is the kind of booking the event exists for.
The Oklahoma State line drew the loudest reaction. The Wrestling Nomad replied to Basch's post with a one sentence read that a lot of fans had at the same moment.
no OKST at Rec Hall is objectively funny
Our take: a host gym full of Penn State fans and zero Cowboys is the detail that will get argued about all week, whatever the explanation turns out to be.
What to watch: the official All-Star Classic announcement, which Basch says should come soon, and whether the full matchups confirm Virginia Tech across 125, 133, 141 and 149.
Likely to see Virginia Techs hammers from 125-149.
